If you’ve been taking care of your teeth, it’s confirmation and peace of mind for your hard work. If you need a little help getting back on track with your dental hygiene – a teeth cleaning and exam is the best place to start.
After you check in, one of our friendly dental hygienists will greet you and take you to one of our clean and cozy rooms. Feel free to dress comfy and bring a light jacket or zippered sweatshirt if you get cold easily.
Most dental cleanings will take around one hour. If you don’t want to hear anything and relax to your favorite tunes feel free to bring your earbuds or headphones.
Depending on the last time you had a dental x-ray and the condition of your oral health you may receive x-rays during your exam. Dental x-rays will detect tooth decay so we can treat it early and save you and your tooth from a more costly restoration.
One of our experienced dental hygienists will perform your teeth cleaning. All of your dental cleanings start with a physical exam of your entire mouth. Your hygienist uses a small mirror to check around your teeth for any signs of gingivitis or other concerns.
Your dental hygienist will use a special dental scaler tool to get rid of plaque and calculus, also known as tartar, around your gum line, as well as between your teeth. You might hear some scraping noise, but you shouldn’t feel any discomfort.
At the conclusion of your teeth cleaning Dr. Renck will drop in and give you one final exam. If your hygienist noticed anything during your cleaning Dr. Renck will determine if it’s a problem and let you know what your options are. Or he might just say everything looks great and I’ll see you in six months!
